Cleaner Streets Will Make us Feel Better

Many municipal authorities employ people to clean the streets, using road sweepers and picking up litter, in order to keep our streets clean and pleasant. In an ideal world, this should really not be necessary. Litter can cause a number of problems, such as pests like rats, hygiene issues, and general unsightliness. Imagine if you were a visitor to your town, and the streets were extremely untidy - would you be as willing to return? In an ideal world, authorities should not have to employ street cleaners. People would not drop litter, and would dispose of things properly. Perhaps we need more bins on the streets, or perhaps we need to educate people to take care of the environment we all share. It should be our civic duty to look after our streets. A pleasant, clean, and tidy place to live will make us all feel happier and prouder of our towns and cities. We need to respect the world in which we live for a brighter, cleaner tomorrow.
