The Search for the Perfect Handbag

I'm not sure my favourite handbag exists. Because no matter how many handbags, shoulder bags, evening bags, totes or purses I buy, there's something not quite right about any one of them. My favourite handbag remains in my dreams, as yet un-made by the designers and factories around the world that churn these creations out by the hundreds and thousands. Of course it has to be leather, it has to be big enough to hold everything and yet small enough to be discreet. And did I mention that it has to be the exact shade of green? It has to last forever, with no pesky split seams or broken straps, and while it has to have the inner capacity of Mary Poppins' carpetbag, you need to be able to find something as small as a penny piece within a second. Naturally, it has to be dressy enough to accompany you to dinner in an upmarket restaurant whilst being casual enough to sit by your feet on the floor of the local pub. It has to say "look at me, aren't I fabulous?" to other women, while saying "nothing to see here" to any would-be purse snatchers. And most of all, it has to age as I age, to neither appear too young for an older woman or too old for a woman not quite in her prime. A classic in all senses. I will never find my perfect handbag.
